How To Make The Best Pizza Sauce At Home!
A proper pizza is made up of 3 main things. Dough, Sauce, Cheese. Give me any combination of those three and I will be a happy person. Over the past couple of decades, I have made pizza at home hundreds and hundreds of times and find myself refining my technique as I go. The process I use now is very different from what it was in the early 2000’s, when ironically I tried much harder, put in more work, and ended up with less appealing results. Like many things in life, you have to learn to do things the simple way before trying to do things the most complicated way.
Incredible TWO Ingredient Homemade Pizza Sauce
Yes, you read that right. After all my trial and error, cooking sauce, making spice mixes, sweetening with everything from a carrot (WTF?) to sugar, I settled on the ultimate pizza sauce with just two ingredients. Ready for the big reveal?
- High Quality Tomatoes
I let the tomatoes do the talking in my sauce. You don’t even have to look very far to source your tomatoes, my favorite for every day use are Sclafani Crushed Tomatoes which can be found just about anywhere. Not only are these tomatoes incredibly flavorful, but they are grown nearby(to me) in New Jersey and are often prices lower than the other tomatoes on the shelf.
We will get into more complicated sauces another day, but if you’re just starting out, keep it simple and enjoy the pizza.
